Hey All,

We’ve got a show coming up a week from Saturday.  We’re playing at a fundraiser for our buddy Paul’s group that raises money for Haitian musicians.  The show is at the Burlington on May 17th.  We’re playing first at 9.  Be there or miss out on some great tunes (like the above video).

The Pleasure Centers - High Standing
So, so pleased to get to announce the 15th Pleasure Centers release, and the 3rd with John, the newest Pleasure Center.  This new release is shorter, crisper, and leaner than ever before.  ”High Standing” has some attempt at micro-poignancy, and “Think of Me” is our effort to repurpose the “KKK Took My Baby Away” riff for a new cause that turned out pretty good too!
Regarding the artwork, I can only refer you to this image and hope that all questions will be answered.

The Pleasure Centers - I’ll Have You Know
Hey ya’ll, just wanted to announce a special XMas Pleasure Centers release.  This is our 13th pair of songs, and no question, no joke, no doubt, these must be the best ones yet, partially because John Gramila joined the group and is playing all bass, all the time.
The new songs are Ramones-y-er than ever before, and lift choruses from The Misfits is a wistful more than we ever have before.  At this rate we’ll wind up as the Smoking Popes before June.  (if that doesn’t make perfect sense, chalk it up to me having drunk more DayQuil than water over the last few days).

The Pleasure Centers @ The Burlyton - 9pm - Wed, 9/26

The Pleasure Centers are playing a new, eggcellent show this coming Wednesday, at the Burlyton.  We’ll be playing all the jams, new and old.  And we’ll also be playing with the new member of The Pleasure Centers, John, and no joke, we sound way more sock-hop-dance-y with a low end.  No apologizes, no doubts, this will be our greatest show.

We start at 9pm on the dot, no celebrity time, so come hang out.  We can all have a beer together afterwards!

We’re playing with other top bands Softspot (NYC), Cool Memories, and Friends in Real Life.  Check it!

SCREEN DOOR Presents: The Pleasure Centers + I AM A ROCKET SCIENTIST: A Live Movie Event

This is all going down tomorrow and Saturday night (August 17 and 18) at COLLABORACTION THEATRE (1579 N. Milwaukee, third floor of the Flat Iron Arts Building).  Doors open at 8:30, and it’ll be a blast.

The new Pleasure Centers Release, “Just To Pick You Up”, has been released. Quick verses, catchy choruses, and slow bridges, just as it always has been, just as it forever will be.
FYI: I know its not totally clear whats going on from the album art, but its post apocalyptic mid-west, and Mark is defending his new dog home from Pete, with a dog body.  Duh…

Show - June 15: The Pleasure Centers kick out Summer jams at the Dock

Great news friends.  The Pleasure Center’s hope everyone is enjoying their summer breaks.  To up the summer fun, we’re playing a show on June 15th at the Dock on Montrose Beach.  We’re playing two sets, starting at 6:30.  Its our first outdoor show, and our longest (two hour long sets!), and to celebrate we’ve added a ton of new songs to the set: new tunes, old tunes we’ve never tried before, Ramones covers, maybe some other cover if we’re feeling bold.

So, if you’re looking for something up-beat-and-hopefully grin inducing to do on Friday, June 15 around 6:30, come see us.

  • The show is free.
  • We’re being paid in beer, so Pete might gain the courage to talk into the mic
  • Mark might wear some blue shades

The Dock is on the actual Montrose Beach, so come grab a coconut something and join us!   No one will be turned away, no frown will be left upside down.

Elizabeth just made this video too.  Oh geeze, its really too too great!  Thanks x1,000!

The Pleasure Centers had a great time last night playing at the old Doejo office.  Thanks a ton to Emily for taking this picture, and to everyone who came.  We had a really great time, and we hope you all did to.  Thanks for making our night!

The Pleasure Centers - #11 - Just For Me

The Pleasure Centers - Just for Me

The Pleasure Centers are proud to release our 11th set of songs, Just For Me.  Maybe we’ve just been too excited looking forward to the new La Sera release (coming out tomorrow!), but these new songs have a heavy pop-punk / bubble-gum punk kind of feel to them.  They’re also the first time I (Pete) managed to sneak a Cheap-Trick style key change past Mark, with predictable fist pumping results.

Singing these two new songs gives me a question though.  Half-for-goofs, we’re singing in a half-Joey Ramone style on these songs.  But here is the thing: singing in a Joey Ramone style makes everything easy to sing!  So, then, the question: is singing in a Joey Ramone patois easier:

  1. because everyone already likes the Ramones, and so singing like the Ramones gives you an automatic conference boost, or
  2. because Joey Ramone discovered a new way of singing in 1976, which helped drive them to great-ness?

There is truly no way to know.  But, in the meantime, please enjoy the new songs!
